RESIDENTS who use municipal libraries will not be fined while library staff are on strike.
In addition, municipal spokesman Kupido Baron said that people who had paid upfront for learner's and driver's licence tests and now could not complete them because of the ongoing strike at traffic departments would be contacted to arrange alternate convenient dates.
He advised residents whose licences had expired or were about to expireto go to other nearby towns to renew them.
Baron said the mayoral committee would meet today to discuss a way forward after several attempts to hold meetings to resolve the strike had failed.
"We are very concerned that the strike action by the librarians and the administrative staff at traffic and licensing centres is still inconveniencing the public and we are doing everything in our power to work towards a speedy resolution," he said. – Mkhululi Ndamase
