VAN Schaik Bookstore (VSB), in partnership with The Herald, is supporting this year's matriculants by ensuring they go into the final exam room with a complete stationery pack and study aids.
VSB marketing manager Margaret Vyver-Rambau said they wanted to ensure the pupils had one less thing to worry about "before embarking on one of the most important periods of their young lives".
"We have realised that many underprivileged matriculants do not have access to some of the very basic materials that will allow them to enter the exam room without undue stress. This initiative aims to alleviate that burden for the learners benefiting from this initiative," she said.
"We are very grateful to our sponsors, Boland Printers, ADG, MPact Corrugated, Inter Express Couriers and Pilot."
The Herald, VSB and other sponsors will provide 95 matriculants from Limekhaya Secondary School in Uitenhage with a pack of brand new stationery and study guides valued at more than R100.
Across the selected provinces VSB has set up stationery collection boxes at their largest stores where the public can donate stationery as well.
Visit www.vanschaik.com for address details for the selected stores. The stationery drive will run from August 19 to September 20.
