THE annual Copa Coca-Cola U15 provincial schools football tournament will take place at Walmer High School on Saturday.
The one-day provincial competition, hosted by the South African Schools Football Association Nelson Mandela Bay region (Sasfa NMB),features teams from around the Eastern Cape.
It will start at 9.30am with the finals held in the afternoon.
Nelson Mandela Bay region champions Walmer High School will represent the metro and the other teams include Velile High School (Cacadu), Greenville Junior Secondary School (Alfred Nzo), Eluzewini Junior Secondary School (Chris Hani), Bishop Demont High School (Joe Gqabi), and Mpeko Junior Secondary School (OR Tambo).
The winning team will compete in the national finals, to be held in Cape Town from October 11-12.
Last year's provincial winners, Centane Junior Secondary School, were disqualified from the tournament after it was established they had fielded players of the wrong age.
Sasfa Eastern Cape secretary Sandile Nowalaza said the tournament was "a platform for the youngsters to expose their talent to football academies".
Coca-Cola hassigned a new R4-million sponsorship deal for the tournament.
Ex-players in the national tournament who have gone on to play for Premier Soccer League clubs are Andile Jali and Happy Jele (Orlando Pirates), Mandla Masongo (Kaizer Chiefs) and Thabiso Nkoane and Ronwen Williams (SuperSport).
