RUGBY chiefs are expecting huge crowds at the annual Cell C Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens in Port Elizabeth on December 7 and 8.
Ticket sales have opened for the event, which affords South African fans the only chance of seeing the Blitzbokke in action on home soil.
Organisers predict a surge for tickets because they are going at affordable prices, and have urged supporters to book early to avoid disappointment.
SA Rugby Union (Saru) chief executive Jurie Roux said rugby authorities and event partners were working hard to deliver another world-class tournament.
"The Nelson Mandela Sevens tournament has established itself as one of the standout tournaments on the World Series calendar and Saru are once more looking forward to hosting the world's best Sevens players in the Friendly City," Roux said.
"Our marketing team and various stakeholders have joined forces to compile a top-class entertainment programme for what promises to be an unforgettable weekend of rugby action.
"Apart from the excitement on the field, fans will also be able to enjoy a free concert on the Saturday evening.
"And there will also be opportunities to meet the Springbok Sevens squad as well as members of the other participating teams during signing sessions, coaching clinics and the various open training sessions."
The tournament is the third in the competitive 2013-2014 HSBC Sevens World Series, and takes place a week after the Emirates Dubai Sevens. The Gold Coast Sevens in Australia kickstarts the season on October 12 and 13.
Last season, the Springbok Sevens squad finished second on the World Series log behind New Zealand, after winning three tournament titles.
At the Port Elizabeth event, the home team will be among 16 teams battling it out for the coveted trophy as well as the important World Series points on offer.
