I AM one of the staunchest supporters of South African local football. I'm not sure whether I'm the only one who has observed this, but our national team coach tends to shoot himself in the foot with his public statements and pronouncements.
Before the Zimbabwe game he was adamant he intended exposing local young talent onto the world football stage. While this is commendable there seems to be no proper plan in place, because after the Zimbabwe game drubbing and pathetic performance, the coach was so quick to change his tune.
That tells me he clearly doesn't have a concrete plan, or his plan is poor or he just doesn't have the backbone to stand up for what he believes is best for SA football. He must utilise the media personnel employed at Safa to assist in his communication to the public, instead of saying this today and telling us another story the next day.
