The kidnapping of a South African citizen in Pakistan is receiving attention from government, the international relations and co-operation department said on Monday (16/09/2013).
"The matter is receiving attention and the appropriate consular services will be rendered,” spokesman Clayson Monyela told Sapa.
Eyewitness News reported on Sunday that Vaal businessman and ANC Meyerton chairman Arshard Ali had been kidnapped in Pakistan.
Ali was reportedly on his way to board a plane back to South Africa at Lahore Airport on Tuesday when he was approached by four men who forced him into a white, double-cab bakkie.
Ali’s wife Emel was quoted as saying the kidnappers had not indicated what they wanted. - Sapa
