BILLABONG South Africa is laying off 15% of the company's employees in Jeffreys Bay.
Billabong SA general manager Ernest Bendeman said yesterday employee reduction in the region of 15% was anticipated, but "the outcome is not yet final as it's a consultative process".
Billabong SA had faced a challenging market environment in the past few years and "will need to continue to improve its operating efficiencies and right-size the business to ensure it remains viable", he said.
To achieve maximum operating efficiencies, Billabong SA had initiated talks with staff regarding the company's future structure. – Cindy Preller
