THE Chevrolet Warriors will fire the first shots of the cricket season this week when they come up against the Knights in three matches starting at St George's Park today.
Although the matches are friendlies, there is guaranteed to be some fierce rivalry as both teams look to get the upper hand before the season gets under way early next month.
The action starts today with the opening day of a two-day fixture.
Wednesday and Thursday will feature two limited overs encounters as the teams wrap up preparations.
The Warriors will be without star batsman Ashwell Prince and allrounder Wayne Parnell for the matches this week. Prince only arrives back from an overseas stint with Lancashire on Sunday while Parnell is said to be recovering well after a heart health scare.
Captain Davy Jacobs, who is likely only to play in the limited overs matches, said this would be ideal pre-season preparation for his team.
"The guys have been training well all winter but there is no substitute for time in the middle and we will be looking to try out a few combinations," Jacobs said.
Play starts at 10am today and entrance is free for all four days.
