OPPORTUNITY is knocking for Nelson Mandela Bay artists, with two fresh avenues to explore. Any artist 18 years or older, resident in Nelson Mandela Bay and eager to showcase and promote their visual art, is eligible to enter the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum's annual exhibition, Who's Who and What's New?
This unselected community exhibition is run annually by the museum to identify and publicise practicing visual artists and visual art groups in Nelson Mandela Bay.
From students to both amateur and established artists, this exhibition provides the opportunity to showcase current art in the Bay.
There is no entry fee. Artists are asked to submit only one original work created in the last year.
Artists who lack the financial resources to mount and frame their works may apply to the museum for assistance before October 25.
Works must be delivered together with a completed entry form to the museum on November 27 during normal opening hours – 9am to 4.30pm.
The exhibition will be on show from December 4 to January 12 next year.
Entry forms are available at the reception desk of the museum. For more information contact the museum on (041)506- 2000 or e-mail Emma O'Brien at firstname.lastname@example.org
Meanwhile, artEC has a new print and drawing gallery in the making and is inviting artists to submit drawings and prints – either framed or unframed, but preferably mounted or in a protective sleeve – for exhibition in its new upstairs gallery.
All work – which must be accompanied by a signed consignment agreement form – must be handed to Asanda at 36 Bird Street, Central, between 9am and 4pm on Tuesdays to Fridays and between 9am and 1pm on Mondays and Saturdays.
