SCHOOL DISCIPLINE AND PARENTING
A GOOD hiding will soon sort out those school brats who are causing havoc and are a disruptive influence at schools. No psychological nonsense please. My generation were all given hidings and most of us are still here to tell the tale and no hang-ups – maybe a few laughs.
LET'S stand together against taverns, dagga and drug trade in the locations for the sake of our children.
LAST week I attended Westering High's prize-giving assembly. I have such respect and admiration for all the hard work the pupils put into their schoolwork. It is such a pity that not all parents have the same respect. Leaving once their child has received an award is not on. Have some respect for ALL the children. Surely an hour a term is not too much to ask? Respect goes a very long way and we should be setting an example to our children. Anyway, well done to our Westeringers.

HERITAGE v BRAAI DAY
THE "right wing" capitalist press should cease trying to undermine the values enshrined in Heritage Day by referring to this important national day as Braai Day. This is literal "prostitution". The press should stop pandering to those unpatriotic dinosaurs whose culture has always been "rugby, braaivleis and Chevrolet". At other national holidays they are conspicuous by their absence. Confirmation of what President Jacob Zuma has highlighted as one of our challenges, namely lack of patriotism.
TO the organisers of the Color Run. The English spelling is "colour". We are not barbarians. We are not Americans.
SUPER SIX ARREST
WELL done Kabega Park trio task team and police divers. Your patience and arrests of the "Super 6" gang and others is fantastic.
WOW, Super 6, what fun you all had. Now off to prison you go, the whole damned lot of you. You must have some "fun" there too. Perhaps you can steal the plastic spoons in the canteen.
THE Marikana enquiry is costing the taxpayers a lot of money with no finalisation in sight. It seems to spend more time in recess than sitting. This appears to be the norm in SA enquiries.
ONE would have thought that students were intelligent enough to realise that the ANC is destroying this country. This does not bode well for our future.
CONGRATULATIONS to Sasco. The greatest challenge to African leaders is the question of leadership. Our leaders have the tendency of forgetting the mandate of the people who voted them to the leadership position. They think about enriching themselves and forget about masses on the ground. Sasco leadership must pull up their sleeves and think about the interest of poor students who are desperate for education but due to their background they can't fulfil their dreams of becoming professionals. Sasco, it was a wake up call to be led by Daso in the region which has greatest history of producing the youth leaders, people like Lulu Johnson, Sheya Kulati etc. Viva Sasco viva
EP Kings, well done on winning your match on Friday. Please win your remaining matches as you cannot afford to lose. You must concentrate and up your game and give it your best for the entire duration of the match.
EP KINGS/SOUTHERN KINGS SUPPORTER
OF course we need expensive airports. Why wouldn't we or should we rather need electricity, water, education or medical care?
WHY on earth are we paying so much for DStv (dismally same televised visuals)? I love watching crime and wildlife shows. Five years later and I'm still watching the same repeats.
POLICE RESTRUCTURING SHOCK
SO government increases our taxes because it wants to employ staff who are no better than the man on the street ... How long can this nation carry on leaking our financial blood away? Please, people ... pray that the Almighty Father gives us the strength to endure these leaders until he comes again.
MUNICIPALITY SPENT R1M ON ANC FUNERALS
WHILE it may be noble to want to provide city councillors with a city-sponsored funeral given that they died while serving, what fool writes "blank cheques" for funeral costs when this city (and indeed many others) is in such a sad financial state of affairs? Instead one would think the sensible thing to do is offer to provide a certain amount towards the funeral costs – at least enough to pay for undertaking services and basic things like a standard coffin and tombstone. If the family insist on inviting the neighbourhood and feeding 5000 and adding all the trimmings, very well, but at their expense, not ours. Common sense, and yet nothing common about it these days.
SOMALI MURDER SUSPECT FREED
THE violence against ethnic groups and high murder stats are proof this country is at war with itself.
