I HEAR Sir Richard Attenborough has been shot down in flames for suggesting that instead of supplying endless food aid to underdeveloped countries, more contraception should be supplied.
Compulsory birth control should be implemented at all schools, given to all female pupils and students from Grade 8 until the completion of university. The school nurse could come around every three months to give the girls an injection. A certificate could be issued at any clinic for university students, as part of their admission requirements.
We would thereby cut down radically on teenage pregnancies and would also have a better educated female population, thus enhancing their chances once they enter the working environment.
It is common knowledge the grant system, which is a big drain on the country, is being abused by the "baby factory" mentality. This should be phased out and replaced by a one-off payment on a sliding scale for voluntary sterilisation for those older than 18 – the younger the female, the higher the payment.
This would not only keep the population down, but also slow down the drain on taxpayers' money, allowing it to be spent on things like hospitals.
