IT'S the councillors lack of backbone that has caused the situation in the traffic department. They have allowed the traffic department to get away with it for years. Every Christmas there is always a problem about not wanting to work or over pay issues.
The traffic officials are employed to do a job, these are your working hours, this is your pay, get on with it or leave. The councillors will run away from the problems, saying, "I could have rather been serving my community" when they are locked in the City Hall.
Councillors, you are the boss! Tough decisions have to be made and people have to be fired. (I don't think one person has been fired at any protest for damaging property.)
One day, the electricity will go out (like in Johannesburg) and the many workers will be affected by not being paid as the factories will be standing still. Councillors, the ultimate responsibility is yours.
