"ONE Community. One Child. One Word." That is the theme for the second annual Nelson Mandela Bay schools spelling bee competition to be held at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University's (NMMU) Missionvale campus on Wednesday.
The competition, which has grown since its inception in October last year, allows two matrics from each of the 77 participating schools around Port Elizabeth and Uitenhage to prove their spelling prowess and walking away with amazing prizes.
Up for grabs to the overall winner is full tuition at NMMU, while the second and third place winners get 50% and 15% of their fees paid respectively, all sponsored by the Rupert Foundation.
The competition forms part of a wider campaign called Ulwazi (meaning knowledge), led by student non-profit Unako Community-based Movement.
