WET and windy weather conditions put a damper on the Northern Arts Festival in Gelvandale at the weekend.
Gale-force winds and rain caused attendance figures to drop by almost half at the Gelvan Grounds event compared to last year.
About 10000 people attended the festival at the Marock Stadium in Sanctor last year.
Ffollowing this success, organisers went back to the drawing board to address concerns over safety and logistics this year – prompting a move to the new venue.
The bad weather, however, resulted in the planning amounting to nothing, spokeswoman Janine Paulson said.
"The weather threw us off completely. Friday's concert had to be cancelled, Saturday's concert started very late due to safety concerns and Sunday's programme had to be extended to accommodate the time lost.
