REPLIES TO READERS' COMMENTS
I AGREE with Presently disadvantaged ratepayer. Overpopulation breeds poverty. The politicians keep saying poverty and inequality must be addressed. They fail to use two magic words: birth control. The pill has been around for decades, the condom even longer, feel free to use them pleeeze.
MISSING the beat: Merlin, the late John Bonham is regarded as the best drummer ever. Keith Moon does not feature in the top 10 on any poll.
MERLIN, I forgive your ignorance about stating that Ringo Starr was the worst drummer. It's obvious by your choice of the manic Keith Moon that your knowledge of music is impaired. If you're into the best, John Bonham eats KM on toast.
TERRY Price, I watch sport with open eyes and know the game. If Adriaan Strauss was so clearly grabbed why was the other player not cited and punished? Have a look at the player's hand.
ElIVIOUS Ndongeni, Robert Mugabe is a thief who has been stealing from his people for more than 30 years, not a hero. In 1980 I was one of a group of soldiers in Zim who were sent to his war vets being accommodated in camps around that country, to pay them each $300. They were ordered to return the money to Mugabe. The teams took the $14-million from that day and the rest back to Salisbury. The farms were stolen to pay the vets when they started putting pressure on the government. Sound familiar?

DR GALLOWAY, I dream of the day when all South Africans irrespective of their colour or political party will receive their just deserts for crossing the line.
WELL DONE ON FANTASTIC SHOW
A BIG fat well done to Craig Cunningham and Union Cricket Club for putting on a fantastic night last Friday. Prime Circle rocked and the bar staff should teach other PE venues how to run such events!

BOOZE KILLS INNOCENT PEOPLE
DEFINITELY no liquor adverts on TV or radio or in newspapers. Booze kills innocent people.
WHERE ARE COPS ON EC ROADS?
TRAVELLING home from Cape Town on Sunday the Western Cape was crawling with traffic cops and cameras. It was all quiet from Bloukrantz to PE. Where were our cops or do they only do maybe a five day week?
NATIONAL POST FOR LOCAL HERO
A MAN from Korsten, PE becomes president of Safa.
WHY THE DELAY IN EXPOSING SCANDAL?
"FOOD market scandal": why has it taken so long to expose this financial disaster? Surely former director Johan Kruger has questions to answer? Early retirement cannot absolve him from his former responsibilities. Question him and, if necessary, charge him!

HOOLIGAN IN PICTURE ACTUALLY A HERO
HOOLIGAN of the day, Monday September 23: very interesting to see that in the Weekend Post it's reported that he was actually a hero in Nairobi. Care to comment?
THE picture was used to illustrate the Watergate Mall drama as it was unfolding and unfortunately may have given the impression that the man holding the gun in the foreground was one of the attackers. As emerged during last week, the man in the checked shirt is Abdul Haji, a Nairobi resident who helped many people to safety in the mall. – The editor
THE Kenyas massacre: moderate Muslims' silence baffles locally and around the world.

NALEDI Pandor can protest as much as she likes about the new passport system being foolproof. If she had started with the corrupt staff first then the passports she would not have made South Africa the laughing stock of the world.
MANY WIDOWS IN SA
PLENTY of white widows in South Africa, another one in Despatch last weekend.
I QUESTION the mentality of those who try to link the word "mentality" to racism.
TAKE CARE OF THE ELDERLY
TODAY, October 1, is International Day of Older Persons. "The Future we want" is the theme for this year. On this day let us pledge to ensure the well-being of older persons and to enlist their meaningful participation in society so we can all benefit from their knowledge and ability.

TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT STRIKE
BY allowing strikes and go-slows at the traffic department, the authorities are only inconveniencing their own comrades by lengthening the queues elsewhere for forged documents.
BOUQUET to Uitenhage traffic office staff – "stoicism in adversity". Thank you.
CONCENTRATE ON THE JOB
ONE hopes Gift Ngqondi will now focus on being an administrator rather than spending office time with Safm on political talk shows.
APARTHEID SA FLAG STILL ON SALE
WHY do the flag sellers on the corner of Main Road, Walmer and William Moffett sell the old apartheid South African flag? Is it legal and who in their right mind would want to buy one?
WELL DONE, EP KINGS
EP Kings, well done on winning your match on Friday. Keep it up, win your remaining matches and up your game still more as you know you can do it.
