THE Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium stands to lose more than R11.2-million in ticket sales with the Southern Kings booted out of top-flight rugby.
Port Elizabeth tourism expert Peter Myles said the loss would not only affect the stadium, but the Bay as a whole.
This comes after the Southern Kings lost their Super Rugby status and the EP Kings failed in a bid for inclusion in the Currie Cup Premier Division next year.
"A near-full stadium of 30000 spectators ... would generate about R1.4-million in ticket sales," he said. This was based on an average price of R45 a ticket.
