A Kwazakhele, Port Elizabeth, man has been arrested in connection with the murder his wife, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday (03/10/2013).
The man had an argument with his wife, a Telkom employee, on Tuesday and stabbed her several times, said Warrant Officer Thembi Gwe.
The woman's seven-year-old daughter witnessed the brutal attack in their NU5 home.
The 37-year-old mother of three, Noxolo Xabendlini, 37, had just returned home from work at 6pm and was in the lounge when she was attacked.
Her aunt, Payza Gcina, 51, who stays with the family, was in the bathroom when she heard her niece scream and the little girl pleading with the 45-year-old man not to hurt her mother – and then silence.
She ran to the lounge and found her niece lying face down on the floor in a pool of blood.
