KINGS LOSE OUT ON PREMIER DIVISION SPOT
WIN promotion, Cheeky Watson, and stop expecting handouts.
NOTE to Kings: try winning promotion on the field, rather than in the boardroom.
THE Kings must stop crying foul when they don't get their way. They must earn their place in top rugby. Can't go from primary school to varsity.
CHEEKY Watson has failed miserably. Look at his performance scorecard. We are losing out on all major opportunities. Start the repair process by replacing the failed leadership.
STATE OF STANFORD ROAD A DISGRACE
WHAT a disgrace Stanford Road turned out to be. The contractors have no consideration for the people travelling from the northern areas. Who is watching if they are following rules and abiding by the book? They are working all over the show and don't seem to have any direction. Where are our traffic officers to man all the intersections at peak hours while they are busy with the roads?
PRIVATISE LICENCE TESTING AS WELL
THE vehicle roadworthy test stations were privatised. Why not the driver's licence sections as well? Would solve a big problem.
DON'T MAKE CRIMINALS VICTIMS
BABY Samantha dies due to abuse and it is said the perpetrators are first time offenders. Come on now, don't make criminals victims! Life sentences are not even good enough.
BETTER POLICING WOULD CUT CRASH TOLL
NANAGA road accidents: yes, Mr Machaea, as you state, it is clear that the accidents on the PE-Grahamstown road are caused by those who break the law. I risk my life every time I drive this route. Very often the drivers that come flying past me over white lines and blind corners have red number plates! Government vehicles! Leading by example! Get some good honest policing out there. Park them out there in those dangerous areas. Sitting at Kinkelbos is not enough. I fear for the young Rhodes students on this road.
REPLIES TO READERS' COMMENTS
REPLY to Herald reader who stated Thuli Madonsela was a true leader: I will only acknowledge that statement once Madonsela releases a true Nkandla report.
I AGREE with Feizal Nicholas, but would suggest the money rather be used to maintain existing burial grounds which are in a shocking state.
THE greatest drummer ever? Mitch Mitchell from the Jimi Hendrix Experience wins by a light year.
REGARDING the best drummer debate, what about PE's finest: Keith Yoko?
I AGREE with Alan Wilson. Life has become very cheap. A husband allegedly slits his wife's throat and it is reported on, then silence. Only if you are a celebrity do the media make a fuss, which sells newspapers very fast. Very sad. What we have become is dog eats dog.
THANKS FOR ASSISTANCE DURING FIRE
HEARTFELT thanks to all those kind people who came to the assistance of residents of Glenelg Road on Tuesday when the devastating bush fire threatened our homes. The response was overwhelming. Fire engines stood by damping down until the small hours. Thanks guys.
A HUGE thank you to the firemen who responded to the fire in the valley bordering Fernglen. The residents all appreciate the awesome job you do to protect our homes and wildlife in the valley.
GLENELG ROAD RESIDENT
ALL bush fires can be prevented to a certain extent, by clearing and cutting vegetation short.
LEAVE JOOST VAN DER WESTHUIZEN ALONE
JOOST van der Westhuizen, who gave his life to rugby, is in court to stop publication of a book about him. Come on South Africa, let's assist him by leaving it on the shelves and show we are on his team, giving him the love and peace he needs.
JOOST book: I wish Gavin Prins would get a pain that never goes away, enriching himself through others' pain. We know the whole story already, why dig it up again?
HOW CAN THEY BE SO GULLIBLE?
ANYBODY who fell for the Lotto scam should be locked up with the fraudsters for criminal gullibility.
NO BAIL FOR ALLEGED KILLER
NO bail for Clayton Philander. He deserves to rot in jail.
MUNICIPALITY TO CRACK DOWN ON THIEVES
TO fight electricity theft, the municipality should look at its own staff because they are the ones who allegedly connect houses illegally with a price. Sometimes people don't ask for these illegal connections but are offered.
WITH high prices, NMB leaves residents with no choice. Until prices are dropped this will continue. Investigate your officials and high rollers in the Bay.
POWER thieves: municipal system is already dead in the water.
ELECTRICITY in the Bay is too expensive, hence the drop in demand. People are encouraged to save, yet NMB complains. We are not thieves. Drop prices and see sales.
JEALOUSY LEADS TO ARREST
WHOEVER told the police about Etienne Slabbert and his wife selling CDs are just jealous. And making it sound as if they are sex addicts is insulting.
