IN 2010 my husband, a policeman, worked at the World Cup soccer tournament in Port Elizabeth for a month. All the people were paid, but my husband was underpaid.
He wrote a letter to the head of police in Bhisho and at a meeting in Port Elizabeth the police promised to pay his money within 30 working days. The meeting took place more than a year ago.
It was unfair because he also worked very hard, like the other police officials. I stayed with my children for one month without my husband as he was staying at NMMU in Port Elizabeth with all his other colleagues.
I don't expect the police to work like this.
I am still in possession of the letter where the police undertook to pay my husband. This was an empty promise.
All that I am asking is that my husband must be paid by police as it is legally his money. My husband is loyal and loves his work, but enough is enough.
