I AM utterly disgusted with Sassa.
My friend, Eileen Hayes, is on a disability pension. She applied to Sassa in January and had no problems in drawing her money on the first of every month.
Now this month, there is no money. I phoned the 0800-60-0160 number, and was told the money had been paid in and she had to go back to Pick n Pay on the William Moffett, Port Elizabeth and ask for a balance inquiry.
The money would be released. If it was not there, she had to go to Checkers in Greenacres.
Big joke – she went to Pick n Pay and tried again, but there was no money. She went to Checkers and stood in a line outside in the sun (36°C) from 10am till 3.15pm and no money was available.
Each time it's bus fare to the different shops and then each time you ask for a balance inquiry they take off money.
This last time I phoned the 0800 number Mzwandile told me we must try again the next day. Now who's going to pay my friend for the monies for transport and when will the money be paid in?
