WITH reference to the metro trains that operate between Port Elizabeth and Uitenhage, I am a first year student at NMMU and I travel to campus daily by means of the train. I am very concerned.
The trains have been breaking down a lot lately and in so doing, we, the students depending on the trains, are late for lectures, tests, tutorials and assignment submissions. The lecturers don't want to hear about the trains anymore as they say it's not their problem.
This is not the first time this has happened and it particularly concerns me now that the final exams are around the corner.
During the last semester exams (June exams) the train broke down at the Swartkops station, resulting in my being 25 minutes late for my poetry exam. I was awarded no extra time and had to rush through the question paper to make up for the lost time.
I would appreciate it if you did some investigating to find out what the actual problem is. The same breakdowns will plague us during the November exams.
