NATIONAL police boss Riah Phiyega has extended a multimillion-rand car parts tender, averting a potential crisis.
Eastern Cape police spokeswoman Brigadier Marinda Mills confirmed yesterday the tender with auto parts dealer and wholesaler AutoZone – which was meant to expire on September 30 – had been extended to December 31.
This after a panel failed to award the new tender to one of nine bidders. As a result, vehicle spare parts were not supplied to the country's police garages.
