MY family and I would like to thank Ward 5B female at Livingstone Hospital, for all the care they gave my mother, Mrs B Webster. There was nothing to complain about.
I would at the same time like to express my horror and disbelief at the lack of care she got while in the POC ward at Livingstone. She was there for 48 hours waiting to get into a ward.
The place was a disgrace to the nursing code of practice – everything was filthy, the stench of urine and faeces was disgusting as patients were left in their nappies for 26 hours before being changed. The doctors were trying their best, but, at times, there were no nurses in the place.
There are no windows in the building so it is very hot, stuffy and humid.
The germs must be breeding at an alarming rate.
There appeared to be no one in charge of the few nurses, who were too busy on their cellphones and not giving any care to the patients. .It is not necessary that such sick people be treated in this way.
