PROFESSIONAL boxing will return to the Nangoza Jebe Hall in New Brighton this weekend after a year's absence.
The eagerly awaited Eastern Cape heavyweight title clash between Port Elizabeth's defending champion, Ivan Strydom, and Unathi Jacobs from Uitenhage promises to produce fireworks from the opening bell tomorrow.
The bill starts at 6pm, with the main fight expected to take place after 8pm.
The two fighters are not renowned for explosive confrontations but the presence of dignitaries and local boxing fanatics is likely to spur both pugilists to go for broke.
Rainbow Boxing Promotions presents the 10-bout provincial title fight.
Strydom took the title after he defeated Sithembele August in Uitenhage last year.
Promoter Gladys "Noforty" Tsenene said both fighters were fit and ready for the fight.
"It will be the first time they face each other in the ring."
Meanwhile, Mzwabantu Dabaza (Uitenhage) faces Asandiso Mancapa (PE) in a six-rounder, which will serve as the main supporting bout.
The weigh-in for the fighters will be held today at 4pm.
