REPLIES TO READERS' COMMENTS
ADEVA Williams, you are my hero and such an example to pet owners across the board. Beautiful news!
SHARON K, read Gary Wiblin's letter properly! Teach new drivers the art of driving before taking them into heavy traffic. That way they can concentrate on driving and not how to operate the car.
LEON VAN DER MESCHT, CENTRAL, PORT ELIZABETH
I FOR one would prefer a slow but legal learner driver in front of me than one of the many thousands of illegal, unlicensed, uninsured drivers behind me. They are a real problem.
BLUE Horizon Bay wind farm: I attended Nersa hearings some time back. A very arrogant and officious advocate spoke against its development. After raising a concern about safety to the trainee pilots regularly flying over throughout the day to land at a nearby airfield, he gave a master class in obfuscation when asked whether such airplane noise would not be worse than the turbines!
GRANTED, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but how can an eyesore such as a wind farm possibly lend itself to a beautiful skyline? Take a drive to Humansdorp to see what I mean.
"GREAT job by metro": Nick, you were lucky. We have a water leak that resembles a sprinkler system. We have been waiting three days, after 10 phone calls and five reference numbers with promises so sincere you actually believe them.

DON'T SPECULATE BEFORE TRIAL
STEVEN and Sympathetic, you may both be correct and Sanele May might be innocent. However, neither of you can say he is innocent because neither of you has seen the docket and so you haven't got a clue how strong/weak the state case against him is .Wait for the trial and don't speculate.
TRUCK driver May: Gregory Govender is the guilty party, not May. Any company employing drivers should have verification checks done, including references. I fail to see how a 23-year-old has enough experience driving code EC trucks. According to reports none of Govender's trucks were allegedly roadworthied either. Prosecute the correct offender.
WHY would May aim the truck at four taxis intentionally to kill so many people and possibly himself! The poor man will suffer enough just knowing he had allegedly killed so many people. Why make him suffer even more. Unless he was drunk I think it's a mistake.
BY-LAWS NOT ENFORCED
"BACK to jail for dog-row neighbour": it is dog control's fault, as well as the police and the judiciary. This man has constitutional rights, including the by-laws being enforced.
PRIVATISATION NOT A GOOD MOVE
IT is alarming to read that our nature reserves in Nelson Mandela Bay are to be privatised. Privatisation will make these gems unaffordable to Joe Soap. These reserves should be managed by Sanparks or the Mandela Bay Development Agency. Our biodiversity heritage cannot be entrusted to the private sector because their sole motivation is profit at any cost.
BEING TRAFFIC OFFICER THE BEST JOB
A FRIEND, after the news on Tuesday, commented that being a traffic cop was the best job he could ever do. I agree.
WHAT A BUNCH OF IDIOTS!
DOWER College rampage, over year-end party: what a bunch of idiots. Do these people have no morals?
PROTESTING for a year-end party: what are they studying? Look like spaza shop looters in training. A shame.
MORE WATER WOES ON THE WAY
THE water crisis experienced by the Sundays River Municipality is certainly on its way to the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality. The problem in these municipalities, including the NMBM, is that there are no water and sanitation engineers. The same municipalities do not have maintenance programmes and it is no secret that the old infrastructure has now gone beyond the sell by date. Unless these municipalities, including the NMBM, start a vigorous hunt for well experienced and creative engineers in this field we are to see the worst quite soon.

NOT TOO YOUNG FOR SEX
AT age six, children are too immature for school. At 15, too immature to be responsible for criminal acts. At age 12, mature enough for sex and possible pregnancy.
