NOT one of the six Nelson Mandela Bay police officers arrested or being investigated over the past six months for serious crimes has been fired.
The officers allegedly committed crimes including bribery and theft. One pretended to be pregnant to get maternity leave and another moonlighted as a doctor.
And while Eastern Cape police spokeswoman Brigadier Marinda Mills says disciplinary procedures take time to finalise, former police detective Professor Rudolph Zinn, now a lecturer in policing at the University of South Africa, believes the process should not take this long.
