SCORES of frustrated motorists and learner drivers are still being turned away from the Durban Road Traffic and Licensing Centre in Korsten, Port Elizabeth, every day, weeks after workers called off their strike.
And it seems the queues will continue at least until the end of the year. Traffic and Licence Services director Masikizi Totoyi said yesterday while the department sympathised with the public, the situation was beyond his control.
"The situation is worse than before. There is a staff complement shortage. This is coupled with the fact that there is a backlog following the strike which ended last month. We will never be able to address the problem until December," Totoyi said.
