EASTERN Cape police boss Lieutenant-General Celiwe Binta is a "dictator" whose entire management team is afraid of her.
In saying this yesterday, the South African Police Union (Sapu) added its voice to that of the Eastern Cape legislature's portfolio committee on safety and security, which had earlier accused Binta of failing in her duties to the province.
The union's provincial general secretary, Eric Jinikwe, said yesterday that they had no confidence in the commissioner's leadership style and that those working under her were "unhappy with the state of affairs".
"She is a dictator and the entire provincial management team is scared of her. You are threatened with salary stoppage when you question some of the decisions," he said.
