AN emerging Uitenhage farmer who accused a DA councillor of stock theft appeared in the KwaNobuhle Magistrate's Court yesterday on charges of assault.
Mzukisi Msweli, 64, allegedly assaulted Boy Phakathi, 38, after he sold five cattle to DA Ward 45 proportional representative councillor Xolisile Klaas. They all live in KwaNobuhle.
Msweli had earlier claimed he had identified three of his stolen cattle at Klaas's farm.
But Phakathi insisted yesterday he had sold his mother's cattle.
