THE Humewood police station in Port Elizabeth is launching an SMS pilot project today in an attempt to spruce up interactive policing.
Station commander Brigadier Ronald Koll said the idea came about when the station found after a survey last month that service delivery was one of the station's major flaws.
"In the past officers acted as judge and jury in some cases, throwing out and closing cases at their discretion, leaving many unresolved. This system forces us to stay on our toes as the public is actively involved in their own cases," Koll said.
