THE annual opening of the season bash in Port Elizabeth is in for some changes this year – the biggest being a move from Hobie Beach to Happy Valley.
In addition, organiser Soul Good is promising an array of events for summer across the Nelson Mandela Bay metro from December 16.
Soul Good project manager Arlen Mungur said yesterday the opening of the season was being moved to Happy Valley as it provided more parking and better crowd control. The event also offered a better backdrop for this year's theme, "Cathedral of Fire and Lights", an extravaganza of lighting that included a laser show accompanied by live music.
Mungur said Humewood Beach would be the venue for the fireworks display and that the vicinity of the Beach Road bridge would be closed to pedestrians and motorists for the duration of the fireworks display.
