THE Pearson first and under-15 girls' water polo teams produced some good results when they competed in the Clarendon Stayers tournament in East London at the weekend.
The first team played three pool games and registered wins over Clarendon second 6-2 and DSG 3-2, but then lost to eventual tournament winners Stirling 4-3.
This placed Pearson second in their pool, and earned them a place in the semifinals against Clarendon. Pearson narrowly went down 3-2 to the East London side, putting them in position for the third place play-off.
They came up against Stirling and this game finished in a draw, forcing a penalty shootout. Pearson won the shootout 4-2 to finish third.
The U15A team also came second in their pool, losing to Stirling 5-1, but not before beating Kingswood 4-1 and Alex 4-2. Pearson then beat Clarendon 2-0 in the semifinals, earning them a shot against Stirling in the final.
After losing to Stirling in the pool game, Pearson knew they would need to show much courage and commitment to take the title.
The Pearson players rose to the occasion with an excellent effort, and went on to win 4-3.
The Pearson first boys' team ended second in last week's Stayers tournament, losing to Selborne in the final.
