CONSIDERING the present large number of people without adequate housing, plus the normal yearly population growth and the large number of immigrants (legal or illegal), the housing backlog may never be eliminated.
I cannot understand why only houses are being built, and not blocks of flats which can accommodate more families and take up less land space. These can be built more quickly than houses, cost less and provide a safer environment for the residents.
From personal experience flat accommodation has been adequate for the needs of many families over many years.
