TWO Port Elizabeth residents were recognised for their contribution to public speaking when they scooped national Toastmasters awards at a ceremony in Johannesburg.
Louise Solomons received the John Whiffen Helping Hand Award and Michael Brosnahan received the Van Blerk Memorial Trophy at the Jabulani District Conference earlier this month.
The awards recognise Toastmasters in District 74, which includes Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland, Lesotho and South Africa
The two awards also recognise Toastmasters who give a helping hand to other Toastmasters or to District 74, by going the extra mile and doing more than is expected of them.
District 74 has 3458 members in 150 clubs across the nine countries. - Shaanaaz de Jager
