THE penultimate matches of the Nelson Mandela Bay table tennis premier league produced a close contest between NMMU A and Olympia, with Olympia eventually prevailing 6-5.
Monde Cola (Olympia) was in good form, winning all his singles matches, although he had a tight contest with Kurt Adams, finally taking it 12-10 7-11 11-8.
In the first league, logleaders NMMU B defeated Malabar 7-4, although the final margin was not a true reflection of the match. It was a nailbiting contest, with Philo Moodaley from NMMU B showing good form to seal the win with an 11-6 11-9 win over Jayesh Ranchod.
Despite Wynand van Eyk and Johnnie Mckay winning all their matches for St Mark and St John, they had their hands full against NMMU D women players Naledi Swanepoel and Nom- zamo Tyhali. The contest, however, ended in a 10-1 win for St Mark and St John.
In the remaining match of the evening, Despatch defeated NMMU C 7-4, with Julian Horne showing good form to help his team to victory. Horne had an exciting match against Ashley Peo, beating him 6-11 12-10 11-5.
