SENTENCING in the case of an Eastern Cape woman who stole R1.4-million from a Grahamstown vet was halted yesterday when the defence indicated it was not ready to proceed. A warrant was meanwhile issued for the arrest of Louise Bowker, who also failed to appear.
The Port Elizabeth Commercial Crimes Court ordered that the warrant be held over until the next court date in December.
Bowker, in her 30s, siphoned thousands of rands a month from her former employer to fund her lavish lifestyle which included a horse-riding passion, expensive furniture, family holidays and her son's private school fees.
