ANGRY residents continued to protest at the Red Location Museum in New Brighton yesterday.
The protest forced Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality officials to shut the award-winning museum last Friday to protect staff, visitors and the building.
Residents want money to be spent on fixing their houses instead of being pumped into the tarring of Singaphi Street, which leads to the museum precinct.
Community leader Mxolisi Nduvane said they had decided there would be "no operation in this museum. Residents are sick and tired of listening to empty promises. All we want is proper houses. The money that they are using for tarred roads could be used to fix our houses," he said.
