THE Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality's senior management failed to address almost half of auditor-general Terence Nombembe's findings raised in the 2011-12 financial year, jeopardising the city's chances of a clean audit.
The metro's director of internal audit, Bonnie Chan, is "gravely concerned" about the lack of adequate controls within some municipal departments, especially the corporate services department. In a report to acting city manager Mpilo Mbambisa, which appeared in the municipal public accounts committee (MPAC) agenda, Chan wrote that management had "failed to appropriately address 46% of the AG findings" contained in the 2011-12 audit report.
The municipality received a qualified audit opinion in the 2011-12 financial year.
