TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT WOES
SOMETHING needs to be done about the Korsten traffic department. People have to stand in long queues for hours every day, some elderly people as well. This is unacceptable service to the PE community. Nobody is doing anything about it. We should be able to renew our driver's licences at our local post offices. They could easily be supplied with one of those machines that test your eyes, take in your form and accept payments.
ENOUGH said about the traffic department, I know. Here's another: the parking outside SARS is for one hour only. Since when does one go through SARS in an hour? Just a money making racket without any thinking behind it.
WELL DONE ON ELECTION VICTORY
WELL done to the DA on your landslide victory in last week's by-election. May this be the start of many more to come. Good honest hard work will always be rewarded.
SA A BANANA REPUBLIC
HOW sad and disgraceful is it that our country is in such a poor state. The Herald and news reports all over rarely speak of anything positive. Besides the rape and murder epidemic, the news is full of the buffoons running our country who as gluttons rape our economy and shamelessly make their low standards public. A banana republic since 1994.
TEACHERS SILENT ON IMPROVEMENTS
WELL resourced former Model C schools are the haven of the petit bourgeoisie. Teachers in township schools maintain a conspiracy of silence on the ANC-led government's effort to improve the lives of our kids in township schools.
WHOEVER was responsible for authorising the "traffic calming" measures in Walmer Boulevard is obviously clueless, but then the whole echelon of municipal management is likewise afflicted.
REPLIES TO READERS' COMMENTS
N OMAR, we have enough violence in SA without adding what you advocate. Of what value is this radical suggestion of yours? People without hands or fingers cannot work. Rather a more fitting punishment for people in prison for non-violent crimes would be to ball and chain them, and use them to do hard labour on farms, roads, etc . For violent crimes, on the other hand, I strongly support the death penalty.
NICE try, Comrade Gary ("No problem with All Blacks supporters"). You are just one of them or a typical "hensopper".
ROB Brown (October 25), the gravy train did not "depart in 1994". It was on track long before that! Remember the bad old days when the Nats were riding the gravy train? There were laws in place, they were able to hide their evil deeds.
POST office management needs urgent training in employee and employer relationships, because they abuse their postmen by making them deliver several bags of mail in a day! The way the post office is trying to save money is to make their casual postmen suffer emotionally, physically and financially. Is this business sense or abuse? Postmen only deliver mail three days a week, even when mail items to deliver increase!
PENSION INCREASES LAGGING BEHIND
WHY does everything go up by seven to 12% when most pensioners are getting a two to 5% increase? What happened to the rainbow nation Nelson Mandela envisaged?
BAN THOSE WHO TAMPER WITH THE BALL
IF Faf du Plessis tampered with the ball, he should be banned from cricket, altogether!

FEEL WHAT IT'S LIKE TO SUFFER
PEOPLE talk of civil war. We black people are used to hardships of all kinds. I am asking all those rich people to starve themselves for a day, from morning to morning, to feel what we felt during those days.

DISAPPOINTED IN POLICE ACTION
HOSTAGE drama: I worked with the police in the good old days. Would have walked into the pharmacy and dragged those two outside. Common knowledge tells you that a person doesn't ask for a lethal injection if you have a real handgun by your side. Knew straightaway it was a fake gun or they had no ammunition. Disappointed in present police.
IT must have been very traumatic for the Seaview pharmacy staff. I hope the father and son will get medical help as they must have reached rock bottom to be so desperate to want to die. Sad world this.
SELEOANE OPINION SPOT ON
"WHAT were you thinking?": Mandla Seleoane, no one could have said it better.
EXCESSIVE NOISE FROM STADIUM
ONCE again stadium management has broken every municipal noise pollution bylaw by having an event, probably paid for by the ratepayers, with sound played at excessive volume with no regard for neighbours and students writing exams. They could not care less that this is in a residential area. Our metro has no hope if even such a simple thing as noise pollution cannot be controlled. Let's see if the new ward councillor will do anything about it.
WRITE YOUR OWN SPEECHES, MEC GQOBANA
SICELO Gqobana, write your own speeches or resign. There are many qualified people who can do your job and write their own speeches. We taxpayers have had enough of our taxes being wasted.
THE worst well paid job in the world must surely be an ANC "speech" writer (glorifying incompetence). No! The worst well paid job in the world must surely be the ANC politician reading the rubbish.
