DESPITE some pushing for Cosatu to hold a special congress next month, not one affiliated union has officially indicated its readiness for the gathering, the federation's president, Sdumo Dlamini, said yesterday.
Dlamini wrote to the unions on October 8, calling on them to report back to the federation on their financial readiness to have the special congress.
The gathering would give members a chance to decide on the future of suspended Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi. Last month the National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) and eight other unions sympathetic to Vavi demanded that Cosatu hold the congress by November 30.
