PAULINE lost her life to breast cancer. Her daughter, Carol-Anne van Jaarsveld (who also had cancer, but recovered and is now cancer-free), initiated the Pink Trees for Pauline in memory of her mother.
This is a nation-wide initiative and will also generate funds for cancer sufferers to help them with funds where needed (perhaps funds to get to their treatment destinations).
Some 60km of pink fabric was donated for the tree wrapping and will be sold or donated to charities at the end of the Pink Trees for Pauline drive.
The trees are looking so beautiful and should serve as a reminder to all of us that we can, in our own small way, help relieve someone's cancer plight. See their Facebook page, "Pink Trees for Pauline", or the website www.pinktrees. co.za for more information.
