RACIST ATTACK IN DESPATCH
VUYO Mashicila, please forgive that arrogant bastard who attacked you. Not all people are like that. So glad his friends got him off you. You go ahead and nail him! I've lived in Despatch my whole life and won't let a little group of racists give our town a bad name. I'm a white woman, and have many friends of different colours and cultures. My son (three years) can't wait to play with his (black) friends who live next to his grandparents. So he will respect all others. You go Vuyo!
SO nearly 20 years into democracy, Despatch has not changed. How disgusting that fellow whites behave like that. Shall be very pleased to see other Despatch residents show another side.
SOME white people should grow up and stop being bitter. The way I see it it's bitterness, evil and low self esteem. That man should be punished and jailed for at least a year or more, suffer the consequences and hopefully learn that you cannot go around punching and insulting people on streets as you please. This man, whoever he is, is a sick bastard with serious issues. It's sad. Vuyo Mashicila, please do persevere to seek justice.
BLACK YOUNG PROUD LADY PJ
GREAT FACEBOOK PAGE, AYESHA!
WELL done, Ayesha Cantor, on your Facebook page. Really inspiring, uplifting and makes one really chuffed to be an African and living here! You deserve all the accolades.
MUST LOOK AFTER YOUNG CHILDREN
WHEN will the township people of this land stop leaving young children unsupervised? So many deaths and rapes could have been prevented. What kind of care giver allows toddlers and young children to play unsupervised in the streets? Yes, Granny, it is your fault.
NOKHZOLA Raba should be charged with child neglect. What kind of granny tells three- and four-year-old children to go home on their own two streets away?
BRILLIANT, brilliant, brilliant Mark Wiggett cartoon. Spying on your close friends and allies – shame on you America!

REPLIES TO READERS' COMMENTS
TEMBALETU, stop whining, get off your backside and do something for yourself or whoever it is who is suffering. You must keep voting ANC. I am sure they will toss you a few crumbs.
I AGREE with S van Rensburg that traffic calming measures are needed in Warbler Street, but speed humps, not rumble bumps would be preferable.
WHAT a dumb idea to think of making Pier Street intersection a cul-de-sac. Simply build a traffic circle at the intersection or a four-way stop street.
JW, I am afraid that you are straining gnats and swallowing camels when you say that the Nats were riding the same gravy train long before the ANC came to power. If they were, and I seriously question your exaggerated statement, then it was a very miniature gravy train. The one that the ANC is on is very big and very long, so long that we cannot see the end of it. Please do not be so gullible.
JOHN Finlayson, name me one top rugby side without a world class kicker. Sorry Patrick Lambie.
SHOULD BE PROUD OF SA'S PROGRESS
KAZEKA Mashologu Kuze, show us a picture of Malawi's main street in peak hour traffic and one of a Johannesburg main street and let us see the difference, then maybe we will see what Jacob Zuma meant. South Africans should be proud of their country's progress. When you travel you don't say I come from Africa. Your travel documents state your country.
TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT CAN LEARN FROM SARS
I WOULD suggest that the traffic department go and take some lessons from SARS. Man, they are well organised. I had a query on my tax return. I was there bright and early, once I was inside the building I was helped within 20 minutes and my problem was solved. Thank you SARS. Traffic department, take note.
SAD THAT PROTESTS CLOSE MUSEUM
IT's sad news to hear that one of our city's gems, the Red Location Museum, has come to a standstill due to community protests! What progress is being made towards opening the museum to the public? How are those from the liberation movement guarding their precious heritage? How do the rest of the residents of this township feel about these protesters forcing their way selfishly against the rest of Ward 15's residents regarding their threats to stop the prospective MBDA development of Singaphi Street? What about all the rest of the residents who also need development and upliftment, and its relevant job creation opportunities? Remember the taxi rank development in Singaphi Street which was forced to a closure under the wings of "Vuyo/COPE" and Silvertown protestors in Singaphi Street a few years ago, which wasted a whopping R15-million as the contract was already awarded?
WHAT HAPPENS TO PERLEMOEN?
PERLEMOEN bust: good on you, PE border policing officers, but please let the public know what happens to all confiscated perlemoen.

SAVE COMMUNITIES FROM DRUG SCOURGE
IT was so heartbreaking to listen to a mother coming from court. Her son is a user (drugs) and beats her up. Let us save our communities from this scourge by reporting dealers to the police.
FEW BLACK RUGBY PLAYERS
QUOTAS: Susan Njanji, cricket is a game of statistics. If a player cannot prove himself, he will not play. Rugby is a matter of culture. Go to any shebeen and the conversation will be football not rugby. There are few black rugby school players. Watch TV school rugby to see this.
WHAT DID FULL PAGE ADVERT COST?
WHAT did the full page East Cape health advert cost in The Herald? So much for Pravin Gordhan's cost saving spin. Why the adverts? Just do the job and fix the ambulances.
