NELSON Mandela Bay football fans could not have asked for a better match to kick off the Eastern Cape Safa Second Division league's new season than a neighbouring regions clash between Morning Stars and Jeffreys Bay Milan at the Zwide Stadium tonight (7pm).
Kouga region's Milan have been promoted to the semi-professional league after winning the provincial SAB division playoff in July, while the Bay's (Morning) Stars bought the status of Bay Stars to campaign in the third-highest soccer division in the country.
The two Second Division league rookies are not strangers to each other after they played a pre-season match.
The Kwazakhele-based Stars will use the Zwide Stadium as their home venue to host their league matches.
Stars coach Siyabulela Isaac said maximum points were very important for them.
"I hope people from the Bay will come in huge numbers and support the team.
"The boys are ready to deliver and I think that this is going to be a very competitive season and anybody could beat anybody, from top to bottom."
Motherwell's Real City will travel to Idutywa's Ngumbela Grounds to play against Matta Milan in the opening game of the season, tomorrow at 3pm
Highbury will clash with Tembu Royals at the Rotary Stadium tomorrow, also at 3pm.
