CONSISTENT play from Booysens Pride's Chris Witbooi helped his team to an exciting victory over Aryans A in the final of the Nelson Mandela Bay club knockout table tennis competition this week.
The opening match provided much excitement when Michael de Kock edged Rajesh Bhana 11-5 11-9 7-11 5-11 11-2.
But Witbooi then rose to the occasion to star for Booysens, winning his matches against Rajesh Bhana and Dipal Bhana to ensure a close 3-2 overall win. In one of the remaining third-round premier league matches played earlier in the week, Booysens Pride had a tough time against NMMU A, but held on for an 8-3 win.
Witbooi was in excellent form, winning all his matches, including a close 11-7 10-12 11-9 result over Thembelani Magodla.
In the other two first league matches of the week, Aryan C played Malabar and NMMU D. Younus Choonara and Zeenal Bhana were in fine form for Aryan C, winning all their matches, ensuring an 8-3 win, while they defeated NMMU D 10-1.
