LIVE hard – for you will never know if tomorrow will be yours.
Well, that was the credo of rock stars back in the 80s.
The recent Animal Welfare fundraiser hosted by Aqua nightclub reminded us of that wonderful luminous era.
The music was pumping and all you could see was highlighted parts of people's clothing and body parts – but not so nice if you are short-sighted like me because you end up looking like you are staring!
Ever have one of those evenings that started out fancy and ended up wild? You dress up for a grown-ups evening out, sipping on Moët.
But it was not long before I was shaking my moneymaker in the middle of Cubana to the great sounds of the DJ – and you know how bubbles always make you feel like you are the sexiest. I was one of those gals we all love to hate who loves to show up others with fancy moves.
Saving grace! I met some superb people – Estelle Gie, owner of Gio Caffe-Gelato, and her husband, who is hilarious. Estelle looked fabulous in a one-shoulder black frock with some jewels to complement it. So I had to stop the booty hop.
Feeling fabulous as I did, I donned a creative ensemble to attend the Festival of Racing at Fairview and thank you to Karin le Roux for being such a gracious host and inviting me to attend on an annual basis. Maybe I am not such a bad guest after all?
Between the betting and dipping into the food on offer, I made the rounds to catch up with some friends. Mandlakazi Skefile arrived like a breath of fresh air in a royal blue ensemble, topped with a striped jacket in complementing hues.
Could not eat much after having had breakfast earlier and I took to stalking and chatted to beautiful Chantal du Pisani, CEO of the NMB stadium. Wow! – this girl is on fire. The couple of times I have seen her she was a bit off with the fashion, but this time she was on top form in a three-quarter length denim blue pants suit. Also present were Tebogo Taunyane – really, brother, it's time to go one size bigger on the shirts! – and Ernest Molote, in the company of girlfriend Nolitha Mtimba who looked fabulous in a lemon yellow romper.
Jaco Rademeyer looked dapper in a Harvey Specter-inspired navy three-piece suit, paired with brown shoes. Socialites came out in numbers with Seki Mandaba being the most stylish at the whisky and cigar lounge. And on that stylish note, happy Diwali, dahlings!
