A PORT Elizabeth table tennis league game that appeared to be a straightforward assignment for Olympia A against St Marks and St Johns, turned into a tough examination this week.
In the end Olympia, with Selvan Sammy and Monde Cola in their ranks, managed to eke out a 6-5 overall victory.
This was despite St Marks and St Johns’ Robert Kuscus beating old rival Cola 13-11 and 11-8.
The match between Booysens Pride and NMMU A ended in an 8-3 win for Booysens Pride. Michael de Kock was in fine form winning all of his games.
Aryan B had their hands full against Aryan C. Although Aryan C beat Aryan B in the first round of the league, Aryan B made sure of revenge with a 8-3 win this time around.
In the other matches, Aryan E beat Olympia B 6-5. Roshan Nathoo, the captain of Aryan, E won all his games.
In the last match of the evening Aryans D beat NMMU B 9-2. Zeenal Bhana was the star player for Aryan D emerging unbeaten.
THIS weekend will see the first competition on the EP Raggies calendar.
RASSPL (Rock and Surf Super Pro League) is an angling company that hosts monthly competition whereby anglers can win prizes and also qualify to fish the annual national competition.
Lines will hit the water from 6.30am tomorrow and among the prizes is R10000 for the biggest edible fish.
The area to be fished will run from the Peer to Coega Harbour and Hougham Park and the registration will be held from 5am at Bluewater Bay Petrol Station.
Weigh cards must be in by 4pm at Bluewater Bay Lifesaving Club after which the prizegiving will be held.
Only two rods will be allowed per angler and all fish need to be measured and photographed. The cost is R150 for non-members and R70 for members.
THE Harrow George Open squash doubles tournament will take place in at the George Squash Club from June 1-3.
Entries for the event close on May 28 and the cost is R350 a team. Players entering a second event will be charged R50 and need to fill out another entry form for that event. A maximum of two events can be entered.
