Fair feast of wedding glam

30 May 2012
THE Herald Bridal Fair was THE place to be for flirtatious frocks, fascinating headgear, fabulous flowers, sparkling jewellery – and a pack of cool grooms – this past weekend.

The annual bridal extravaganza at the Feather Market Centre featured outfits for the male members of the bridal party by more than one outlet, with regular exhibitor Heinz in Style being joined by Morne Originals.

The Herald Bride and Groom of the Year 2011, Yolanda and Nkosinathi Tshambo, kicked off the wedding march at the four fashion ramp shows, modelling their own wedding outfits.

Nkosinathi looked every inch the masterful groom with his grey suit from Heinz in Style – a counterfoil to his bride, who wore a romantic design by Lorette van Wyk of Lorette Designs.

Such is the popularity of the bridal fair shows that Yolanda was asked to sell her dress right there, and designer Van Wyk picked up new commissions for the slightly vintage-feel ballgown style, offset with beadwork, ruching and French lace.

Port Elizabeth’s top designers were out in force at the fair with established successes like Jason Kieck, Karen England’s House of Brides, Designs by Johan from Johan Wolmarans, Lee-anne Griffith’s A-Do-Decor and Leandra Fourie’s L-Designs.

They were joined by a "Designer’s Room” consisting of Silver Spoon Clothing, Thabo Makhetha, Kary Meyer of Kary M Fashion (fascinators), Monique Coetzee of Le Qin custom design (footwear), Morne van der Schyff and Veruschka Barnard.

A range of imported looks from Blushing Bride, Brides Etc, Bridal Flair, Lady Marmalaide and Lorette Designs rounded off a feast of wedding fashion.
