ANRIETTE Schoeman and Jevandre Pauls emerged triumphant in the Siyangoba Cycle Tour held at the weekend.
The women started the 95km tour in the open section with the men. Schoeman (Mecer/Africa Silks), Allison Hertell (Mecer-NMMU) and Lindi Dorfling (Bizhub FCF) impressed when they managed to stay with the main bunch.
Pauls, Nick Cape and Luthando Fatyi broke away 18km into the race and stayed away till the end.
Schoeman made her move 70km into the race up the steep Lake Farm climb when she and Marco Joubert (Monsen) broke away from the main bunch.
Pauls (MTN Qhubeka) outsprinted Cape (Wayne Pheiffer Cycles) to take first place in 2:29:36, with Luthando Fatyi (Siyangoba) third. Rodger Pheiffer took the bunch sprint to finish fourth.
Schoeman finished in the men’s top 10 and was the first woman in 2:37:43.
