Letter to Ward 8 councillor to do job

26 June 2012
E-mail your letter to The Herald

OPEN letter again to Ward 8 councillor Gustav Rautenbach:

One only has to open The Herald newspaper on a daily basis and read about an elderly Lorraine victim, now unable to speak, or the fatal attack on a domestic worker in a complex to wonder why this is happening in our once beautiful and safe area.

First of all, the bush and overgrown vegetation on both private and municipal land has not been cut for months and I have taken this matter up with you on numerous occasions, but to no avail.

Please don’t tell me that there is no money.

Where are our rates and taxes then going to?

If the municipality has no money to do things in your ward or other parts of Port Elizabeth, then it must be bankrupt and the control of this city must be placed under administration by national government.

Secondly, have you driven around the ward and counted the number of street lights that are not working, giving criminals the perfect opportunity to hide in the bushes in pitch darkness and wait for poor unsuspecting victims.

Councillor, start earning your pay cheque and do something for the ward that we as ratepayers are paying you for and stop moaning that you can’t do your job as you don’t have 3G to send an e-mail. Send a letter or send a fax – ’n boer maak ’n plan.

Let’s see some action as we can’t carry on like this – having elderly people attacked in their own homes and domestic workers killed for just trying to earn a living wage.

Paul you are talking through your backside !!!! As Councillor Rautenbach diplomatically put it you are looking for cheap political points. "Dont tell me there is no money", where the hell have you been the last few years pal, with your head stuck up an ANC orifice. Have you read or understood the Kabuso report??? Do you read the newspper??? Generaly our rates and taxes have been bloody stolen and mismanaged and you are blind to even know that!!!! BE A MAN GO SEE THE Councillor face to face, I am sure he will explain to you who has been responsible for the financial problems of PE. Thirsty also from Lorraine and happy!!
