SWALLOWS thumped Lads 4-0 in an under-17 match as fans and supporters flocked to the John Nance Junior Tournament at the Gelvandale Playing Fields yesterday.
The much anticipated clash between the teams was arguably the pick of the day’s fixtures.
The game got off to an electrifying start with both teams showing their intent early on.
The first goal came when left- winger Herwan Palmer beat the Lads goalkeeper with a well-taken strike.
Swallows took control of the game creating the better chances and looked threatening throughout the first half.
Lads seemed tired after a lacklustre first-half display. It took Swallows three minutes to register a second goal, when their diminutive striker Marco Thomas lobbed the Lads goalkeeper.
Lads endured further misery when they conceded a penalty to diminish any chance they had of making a comeback. Swallows goalkeeper Shakeel Hutters converted the spot-kick.
At 3-0 up, Swallows looked comfortable in possession and utilised their speedy frontline to run in behind the Lads’ back four. There was time for a fourth goal, with Kerwin Williams completing the rout for Swallows FC.
